When my son turned 2, he LOVED the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show on the Disney Channel. I didn’t have a Mickey pan, so I used a 9″ round pan for the face and I think a 4″ round pan for the ears. (I picked it up in WalMart’s wedding section for a couple of bucks.)
Since I HATE that black frosting stains clothing and teeth, (not to mention it tastes funny)I opted to use chocolate frosting. Since this was my first real cake decorating effort, I used a simple star tip when icing. To make sure I got the face right, I had a mylar Mickey Mouse balloon next to me to look off of.
I trimmed the 9″ cake after it cooled to notch out a chin for Mickey and give him less of a “round” look. The Mickey Mouse Cake was a big kick and luckily my 2 year old was thrilled and not too tough of a critic!
I really love this! It has inspired me to make my sons birthday cake. Just one question. What do you use for the outlines ( eyes, mouth)?
