When I asked my daughter what kind of cake she wanted for her 5th birthday it was naturally Minnie Mouse since we took our first family vacation to Disney world a few months ago. I wanted to do something a little different and decided on a Minnie hat, one that you find in all the gift shops around the park and french boutique colors that her bedroom is going to be decorated in.
The cake is a two tier each with two layers one in vanilla and the other chocolate. The icing is all butter cream in white and tinted in hot pink. The black icing on the cake was chocolate icing dyed with black food coloring. For Minnie’s hat I used half of the ball Wilton cake pan and for the ears I simply used a cake board cut into the ear shapes and iced them over. It was the only part of the cake that was inedible. I thought sometime later I could also have used melted candy wafers to make the ears as well.
Emily and all her guests at the party all seemed to love the cake and had a great time eating it as well!
