My husband and I made this Minnie Mouse Cake for our daughter’s first birthday. We used one 10 inch round cake pan for the head and two 6 inch pans for the ears. We used a box of yellow cake mix for the head and chocolate for the ears. After baking the cake we took the advice of others and drew out the design for Minnie using a toothpick, then we frosted the various areas of Minnie’s face.
My husband made her bow out of fondant and he piped the polka dots on with white icing. We were afraid of darkening the icing to make her black so we just used chocolate icing for her head and ears and we put a little bit of chocolate icing in the white icing to color her face.
We must have done a good job cause when she saw the cake her face lit up! We didn’t use any fancy tools, just ziplock bags to pipe all our frosting.
