I love to make cakes. Halloween is a really great time to get adventurous with baking and my kids love the Nightmare Before Christmas; we always watch the film at Halloween.
This cake has two tiers, one chocolate with the crumbled flaked on the top, and one lemon with a lemon curd filling. It was sliced up and given out to trick or treaters who called on us at Halloween.
All of the characters are handmade by me out of sugar. This involved mixing an awful lot of sugar paste in various colors. The cake was so heavy that it was difficult to lift by one person.
Some of the characters were not eaten and so I kept them; put them as ornaments up on a shelf to admire in the future. They were just too cute to throw away!
