I baked 2 boxes of cake mix (chocolate and one white) in a rectangle cake pan that holds 2 boxes. Once it had cooled, I flipped it onto a board that I had covered with foil. I just cut the cake into an upside down egg shape. Then I crumb coated with buttercream.
After it had crusted, which usually takes about 30 minutes, I tinted the buttercream with red coloring gel. I frosted the whole cake red. I used chocolate frosting mixed with black coloring gel and outlined the eyes first. From there, I piped the webbing. All I did was put the frosting in a baggie and snip the corner. Then I filled in the eyes.
This Spiderman Birthday Cake was pretty easy and my nephew loved this cake.
