I made this Scooby Doo Haunted House Cake for my son’s 5th birthday. He was having a Scooby Doo mystery party and he wanted a haunted house cake. I used a lot of ideas from my favorite site www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com.
First I made a 13×9 chocolate cake for the bottom and frosted it with chocolate icing. I made the haunted house out of pound cake baked in a loaf pan. I than cut a hole in the bottom cake and placed the pound cake in it. This helped support the house so I didn’t have to insert rods. I had cut the pound cake top like a triangle and placed iced pop tarts covered in cookie crumbs on the roof held in place with icing.
I decorated the house with simple lines and outlined the doors and windows. I created the path with Reese pieces and made a zig zag pattern. The fence was made with candy covered pretzels. As I coated the pretzels I laid them in the fence pattern to set up and harden. The trees are chocolate Twizzlers cut on one end with a skewer inside to hold them up right.
The grave stones are Milano cookies with RIP written in black icing. The ghosts are marshmallow peeps held in place with toothpicks. I found the cake toppers off of eBay and thought they went perfect with the cake.
Very creative and cute and completely do-able!
I love the cake you came up with. I have made a haunted house Scooby cake before and will be using some of your ideas to make my son’s cake this year.
Thank you!
