I made this Homemade Scooby Doo Birthday Cake for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. The cake was made with two 12″ cakes and two 8″ cakes that I stacked. The Scooby on top is a piece of fondant rolled out and cut in the shape of Scooby from a coloring page I downloaded from the computer.
I used a pin to make tiny holes in the fondant so I could follow the lines to fill in the details on his face with royal icing. I let it dry for 24 hours and then turned it over and attached the dowels with royal icing and a piece of scrap fondant and let that dry for another 24 hours.
I then used three different sized daisy cookie cutters to make the flowers out of colored fondant. Let them dry a day or so and then used royal icing to glue them together.
The cake itself was filled and frosted with chocolate buttercream and then covered in fondant that I colored myself with wilton gel colors. The finishing touches are royal icing. I then just stuck Scooby in the top of the cake. I tried to make it look like he was coming out of the cake.
My daughter loved it and that’s what’s important!
