I found a coloring page image of Scooby Doo and used it to create a template for my grandson Brady’s second birthday cake. I transferred the picture to wax paper and cut it out.
One cake mix in a 13″ x 9″ pan was adequate for this cake. After baking I froze it for easier cutting. I laid the template on the cake and cut it out. On the reverse side of the wax paper, I followed the facial lines with icing and turned the paper over onto the cake, pressing softly to leave an image on the cake. This provided a guide and I just iced over the image with the appropriate colors. I used only the star tip #4 on this cake.
The cake was a bit narrow and may not feed a large crowd. I made additional matching cupcakes, with character gummies on top, to serve with it. This Scooby Doo birthday cake was terrific and I love baking my own cakes; it saves money too!
