This Spongebob Birthday Cake Idea wasn’t a terribly tricky cake. I made a rectangular rich chocolate cake with bars of strong dark good quality chocolate – making a good cake appeals to the adults as well as the children. I carved the body from the rectangle and used the leftover pieces to make his shorts.
I then used a ready made fondant icing, the kind that you buy in a block and simply roll out. I painted warm watered down raspberry jam onto the cake to help the icing adhere. I covered the body and head with the icing. I rolled out some icing very thin, and cut out the eyes, the collar and tie. Next I rolled out some small pieces of icing to form the nose, arms and legs.
When I was happy with the form, I hand painted the colours on with food colouring, using just a regular paintbrush.
Et voilà – Spongebob Squarepants.
Whoop whoop U, hidden talent there missus, very nice indeed, must get u do make mine! :)
