This Spongebob Birthday Cake was fun to make. My daughter is into SpongeBob so when I asked her what we should make Grandpa for his birthday, she informed me a SpongeBob cake! So, my 66 year old dad got to celebrate in style!
I baked a 10 inch square yellow cake, single layer. I frosted the whole cake in yellow buttercream and then let it set to form a crust. To create SpongeBob’s face, I went online and found an image of his face. I flipped the image on the computer so when I put it on the cake it was flipped back to the original position.
I used wax paper and piping gel to trace the flipped image. I applied the piping gel image to the cake and then used buttercream to fill in all the colors. I outlined all the area with black first and then filled them in like a coloring book. With the leftover yellow, I did a shell border around the cake.
It was easy, fast and enjoyed by all!
