My son loves trains and the whole Thomas & Friends gang. So of course we decided to have a Thomas-themed party for his 3rd birthday this past January. My mother is actually the one who did the cake and I think it came out awesome! She used four small loaf pans and one 8 X 10 pan. All she did was use one of my son’s Thomas trains as her guide and just started cutting away! She cut and shaped each of the loaf pans to look exactly like Thomas, Annie, & Clarabel. She used mini-oreos for the wheels, black sugar sprinkles, and mixed Wilton’s food coloring with canned white frosting for all the colors. She also used some sort of food color ‘pens’ for the details such as the red lines and the yellow number 1. She was going to use black rope licorice for train tracks, but we couldn’t find any! That part was sort of last minute, so I really only checked a couple stores…
