I am a mother of 2, living in Botswana and I love baking, especially for kids. They come up with lots of ideas which make you bring your imagination into reality – in the form of a cake.
This Thomas train cake was made for a 7 year old boy, to be taken to his school. I used a 8 inch square cake pan and halved the cake, to make a 2 layered vanilla-chocolate marble cake with butter cream icing for the body of the engine and marshmallow fondant for the face.
The birthday boy loved the cake so much that he and his brother munched up the exhaust at top of the engine as soon as the cake reached home. This is my first Thomas train cake, and it was a challenge to get the face this perfect. I enjoyed baking and decorating it.
