Both my children were really into Thomas the tank engine so I decided to create a Thomas the Train Sodor Birthday Cake for my son’s 4th birthday. I used a square cake with a cut off from another square on top. I made the Thomas out of fondant icing using matching colours to Thomas. I covered the cake with white fondant icing and dabbed it with green to get a mixed shade all over.
I then broke small pieces of different shades of grey to make stones and rubble. The trees were made from fondant that had been pushed through a sieve to create a bushy effect when squashed gently together. I rolled out brown icing for the track and made a tunnel in the top piece for the track to run to.
This was one of my earlier cakes which I was very proud of and my son enjoyed.
