This Star Wars birthday cake was a cake for my husband’s 40th birthday. I wanted to make him a unique and special cake, after all you only turn 40 once. My husband’s name is David and he is (like every other 40 year old male) a big Star Wars fan. So not so long ago in a kitchen far far away…the adventure began.
First I started by baking a basic yellow cake. While my cake was baking I started to make the Death Star, the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vador’s tie fighter using gum paste. After the designs had hardened I used edible paint to color them. Making them was fun and I couldn’t believe how good they looked. Next, after cooling the cake I iced it with traditional butter cream tinted black using Wilton’s food coloring gel. I then used a small star tip to create the Galaxy. I placed the Death Star and other ships on the cake. I then used a red glow stick for the Light Saber and a Darth Vador Halloween mask to create the Star Wars theme. My husband was so excited he loved the cake!
I was so happy with the way it turned out and David was able to join “THE DARK SIDE” for one day. Everyone gave David props for an awesome cake and in return David gave me a big 40 birthday kiss! MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!
