My son wanted a tornado cake so I made 2 cakes from scratch and formed a number 5 for his 5th birthday. It took some critical thinking to decide on what to use for the tornado and how to decorate it. He is always about the weather.
I came up with using an ice cream cone for the tornado and fondant with homemade icing. I mixed colors to his approval and ran with my ideas. I didn’t think it was as great as everyone else thought, I’m a bit OCD, lol.
It turned out so good people wanted me to make their children’s birthday cakes. My son is turning 6 soon and I’ve been challenged to make another tornado cake. My ideas are coming about, I can’t wait to see how the next one turns out.
