I was asked to make a cake for a friend’s daughter. She was turning 9 and is a horse lover. Her mum suggested a princess carriage, with 2 horses. I had never made horses before. I started making the horses a week out so they would be hard enough to stand (I added Tylose to the fondant too).
The carriage was made of 2 chocolate mud cakes (each baked in a Pyrex bowl) and sandwiched together with a rich chocolate butter cream, then covered in fondant. It took about 6 hours to decorate the carriage. I covered it in lustre dust for that extra sparkle. The letter “T” is on the carriage door – for her name Teagan.
She was there when I dropped it off – and LOVED it. Being the mum of 2 boys, it was nice to work on something super girly for a change. I have since been asked to make another one of these for another friend.
