My dad asked me to make a Superbowl cake for his famous “pre-tailgate Superbowl party” at work. I started by making a vanilla sheet cake for the base frosting it in butter cream frosting then covering the “field” with grass using Wilton decorating icing which I dyed green. For the logos I found an image on the computer, traced it onto parchment paper and used butter cream frosting to fill it in and stuck it in the freezer overnite.
In the morning I peeled it off of the parchment paper and simply placed it on the cake. I made the football by baking a chocolate circle cake and then cutting it into the shape of a football and frosting it in chocolate frosting, then adding the white laces with the decorating icing. I used the leftover pieces of the cutout chocolate cake as a base to set the football on so it was not sitting directly on the cake. Everyone loved it and even though I am neither a 49ers or Ravens fan ( I prefer the Bears!) I have to admit it came out pretty good.
