You treat the modeling chocolate like dough. The entire outside of the cake is modeling chocolate. It gets fairly stiff and may crack when you cut the cake but it tastes great.

I made this Guitar Birthday Cake for my husband’s birthday. It was a Madeira sponge baked in a large rectangular tin. I traced the guitar design onto the cake, covered it in pre-coloured icing and then iced on the strings.
