I made this for my son’s Right to Read Week cake auction. It s a double layer chocolate cake (doctored up cake mix) and homemade buttercream.
The “spaghetti” is made from the butter cream tinted with a little yellow food coloring and cocoa powder, piped on the cake using a small round tip.
The “meatballs” are cake crumbled and mixed with a little icing to shape into balls. Then roll in a mixture of cake crumbs and cocoa.
The “sauce” was made by pureeing frozen (but thawed) strawberries. I added a little sugar to sweeten a bit and some cocoa to darken the ” sauce” a little so it wasn’t so bright red.
The “cheese” is grated white chocolate. The clouds on the cake are butter cream piped on using a Wilton #12 round tip. Added a little corn syrup to the butter cream used for the clouds to make them shine. Sprinkled with white sparkling sugar.
