Brogan, my nephew, favorite things are monster truck. He is either playing with them, watching videos of them on the computer or on the phone in the car. He always carries at least 1 with him wherever he goes. And his favorite thing to say is” Bad to the bone “. So for his 2nd birthday I made him a monster truck arena.
I used a 9×13 pan for the ramps I cut off the top layer of the cake, molded it with my hands then brushed melted Hersey bar (in microwave) on it. I frosted the cake with butter cream frosting. The middle of the cake (Arena) I used more of the melted Hersey bars. I used a spoon and drizzled it on the cake, then took a potato peeler and shaved some of unmelted Hersey bar and randomly placed on top of the melted chocolate. I also incorporated homemade ginger cream cookies crumbled up to put on to for the dirt effect. I drizzled extra chocolate on the corners of the cake for the other monster trucks.
Then I crushed the bottom cars with pliers washed and cleaned them off and made sure there weren’t any sharp edged and placed them on the cake with the monster trucks on ramps and in corners. I used Wilton royal blue color mixed with the butter cream frosting with tip # 16 for the writing and Wilton green leaf color for the borders and cars on sides of cake. The wheels on the cars are mini Oreos.
When Brogan saw the cake he said “Bad to the bone” and reached for the trucks, ate a couple of bites and began playing with the trucks. He carried them with him even while opening the other presents. Could Brogan be the future Grave Digger or Monster Mutt driver? Everyone commented on the arena ingredients and said the cake was delicious, must have been there wasn’t any left.
