“I have $20 for a cake and a party”, are the words that motivated us to make this cake. My dad’s friend’s girlfriend had just left him, right after he found out his mom had passed away. After funeral expenses, Christmas and recently being a single parent he had food stamps and 20 bucks to work with for a party and a cake for his daughter Autum’s 6th birthday that was coming up. Considering what the family had been through, my family and I decided to make a cake hoping to make Autum smile, for free.
She likes princesses and pink, so that is what inspired us to make a princess on her castle. My mom, father and I all started on the cake together; it got really late and my parents eventually went to bed leaving my friends and I beginning the assembling. Then, they left and I was up alone until god knows when decorating. The next day my family, boyfriend, best friend and I were all rushing, doing the finishing touches to the cake. We were the ones that were going to deliver the cake 2 hours away from where we live, we also wanted to be there for her birthday party.
Autum had the biggest smile on her face when we walked in with the cake. She literally could not stop staring at it for minutes! That’s the best thing about making cakes for people, I would never give that up.
