This baby shower cake was made for a little girl’s baby shower. The momma wanted a shabby chic, damask themed shower. I decided on elegant and simple with a little bit of girly thrown in.
The cake is a 3 layer 12 inch on bottom and a 3 layer 9 in cake on top. I filled the layers with butter cream and sprinkles (it’s what she wanted) and then in butter cream. Each tier was then covered with fondant and decorations were added. I made the baby shoes out of fondant and let them dry for a few days and then laid a grey piece of fondant out to look like a baby blanket. I incorporated the damask pattern just under the baby’s initials (behind the name plate) and under the shoes.
This was a fun cake to make and one of my more elegant/clean line cakes. I really enjoyed it. I have two boys so I don’t ever get to make pretty girl cakes, so I was really looking forward to this one. It was also one of the biggest/heaviest ones I have made so far. It was a big hit.
