Coolest 1st Birthday The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake

I made this two tier double chocolate cake for a first birthday boy Who loves the story book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  The two tiers were made of the same soft moist chocolate cake with a cookies and cream center. Both tiers were covered with white fondant. Each tier was divided by multiple colored balls of fondant.

We made the caterpillar out of gum paste a few days earlier and we tried to add all the food the caterpillar ate in the story book and made all the food out of gum paste. Some of the food we made and added was, cheese, cherry pie, pears, apples, Jaffa cake slices, watermelon slices, strawberries. My daughter and I had fun making all the food.  We tried to make the caterpillar weave in and out of the 2 tiered cake, and we think we have succeeded. The colors were vibrant and the kids loved it.
