This was not my first liquor bottle cake but i did this one different than usual. Most times I stack layers then trim it into the bottle shape. This time I decided to try standing a loaf cake on end and covering it with fondant. It worked, until I tried to put the top ( a cake square covered in fondant) on top! It was too heavy and started sinking into the bottle! So I ended up using a sharpened dowel stuck through the cake at an angle for support and to hold the now leaning bottle upright!
Truthfully, I almost trashed it and started over, but I couldn’t let it beat me! After FINALLY getting it to stand straight I put the label (the actual label scanned onto edible paper) on carefully and left it alone over night. It was still standing the next morning so I said hallelujah and boxed it up!! They loved it at the party and I learned a valuable lesson, if it aint broke , DON’T FIX IT!!!
