This was a homemade 1st birthday cake that was made for my baby’s 1st birthday. It turned out awesome; I almost cried when I had to cut it!
First, I used 1 package of cake and baked it in 2 round pans. I frosted in between and cut them down a bit. Second, I baked another box of cake in a 9×13 Pyrex and cut out 3 squares for the “gifts”. I frosted each one separately (I decorated it all later). I placed the 3 square cakes so that they could hold most of the weight of the top round cake. Under the round cake in the bottom I placed a kitchen accessory to support it. (This can’t be seen at all.)
Once they were all placed, I decorated! Each gift has 2 small ribbons on it; then I added the candy decoration, and last the ribbon bow. Each gift has its own style of decoration. The round cake has only 2 strips of wide brown ribbon around it and blue-colored frosting circles. All of the ribbon stayed well with dabs of frosting.
The topper is one of those baby blankets with a stuffed animal on the end. It was so cute with this topper as opposed to a wax candle or something else.
How very cute and creative …I love this
