I made this 1st Birthday Cow Cake for my son’s cow-themed party. The cake was a doubled basic sponge recipe, made in a Pantastic plastic cow shaped tin (available from Amazon).
I then covered the cake in white frosting, and decorated the cake using Wilton icing pens. I colored the bell with a special sparkly gel icing pen. I textured the grass with a wooden pick.
The party was a great success and I had themed the whole living room – bunting, pin-the-tail-on-the cow game, cow print plates and cups, cow masks, cow coloring pages, cow-shaped sandwiches, cow wind-up toys – you name it! So this cake was the perfect finish to the party – and the guests enjoyed eating it too!
