I just stared making cakes on the side (my 3rd cake) and a friend of mine was turning 30. His wife got in touch with me and wanted me to make a fun cake for his birthday. I decided to do an old timey “bucket of beer” cake for him since we were having his party on a party barge on the lake.
The whole cake is made out of vanilla with homemade buttercream icing. I used pirouette cookie sticks around the side of the cakes, to make it look like wood. I then took black fondant and made a “ribbon” around the bottom and used fondant to make the banner, the bottle opener, the bikini bottom and top, and the swim trunks. The whole cake was edible except for the beer bottles. They were the 7 oz beer bottles that you can buy.
Overall I think the Homemade 30th Birthday Bucket of Beer Cake turned out pretty good, especially considering this was my 3rd custom cake.
what size cake is it and what did you use for the ice inside the bucket??
