I made this 3D Cookie Monster Birthday Cake for my son’s 2nd birthday. I did a double layer white 14 inch round cake for the bottom tier filled with strawberries and covered in buttercream frosting tinted brown to give the look of a chocolate chip cookie. I then decorated with dark brown buttercream chocolate morsels.
For the top layer I used the 3D bear pan from Wilton to make Cookie Monster. I used chocolate cake mixed with pound cake to make it sturdy. I cut off the ears and placed them near the hands area, securing with icing, to hold the real chocolate chip cookie. I used white fondant for the eyeballs and black buttercream for the pupils. I used the star tip to decorate Cookie Monster in blue. I used black buttercream frosting to draw his mouth.
Next I placed chocolate chip cookies around Cookie Monster. It was a great hit at the party!
This cake is so great!! I am going to attempt to replicate it for my son’s first birthday. Thanks very much for the step-by-step instructions and for sharing!
Thank you, I needed an idea for how to make a cookie monster cake for my son’s first birthday :) I will be making a matching smaller one too.
