For my daughter’s 1st birthday party, I made a 3D Winnie the Pooh cake. I searched high and low on Ebay for a 3D cake pan for months before her party. The pans were so expensive that I almost decided to change her cake design. However, I finally found a retired Wilton 3D Pooh cake pan at an amazing price and won it on Ebay! The only catch was that the pan came without the clips to hold the two sides on the pans together while the cake was cooking. I had to figure out how to keep the pan sealed while cooking and finally decided on using paper clips. They worked perfectly!
I made an applesauce cake for her and homemade butter cream icing for decorating! I spend hours decorating this cake so that it would be perfect for the party!! I absolutely loved the way it turned out! Of course we had to have a smash cake, so my oldest daughter (3 at the time) came up with the idea of a beehive. I thought it was perfect! She helped me decorate the beehive cake (complete with wobbly lines, but who cares!) so that she had a part in the party!! I even found a Winnie the Pooh mini cake stand for her smash cake!
I was just thrilled with how everything turned out! Of course, my 1 year old decided that she didn’t like icing on her hands and wouldn’t dig into her beehive! My twin sister ended up feeding it to her by the forkful!! What a very memorable cake and party!!
