I wanted to make a cake for the St. Patricks Day party at my daughter’s after school care. I could not find many clovers so I thought I would go for the nontraditional four leaf clover. In my rush to get started, I did not think about the fact that I only have one 6 inch heart pan. So, it took me forever to just get the cakes made. I used a basic yellow cake with butter cream icing.
The cake was pretty easy to assemble. I used the trimmings off the top of the cakes to fill in the hole in the middle where I placed the hearts together. I had a little extra batter left over and I used it to bake a small square cake that I cut the clover stem. I cut out 2 stems and stacked them so they would match the height of the cake. I did not have any specific decorating plans so I just let my imagination guide me and added icing decorations until I was satisfied with the outcome of the 4 Leaf Clover Cake.
This cake looks great. It is amazing what a little imagination and persistance will do for you. I bet the kids really enjoyed it.
Thanks so much Mary,
I didn’t even get a bite, so I think they did enjoy the cake.
