Coolest 40th Birthday Barbie Cake

This 40th Birthday Barbie cake is a cake I made for a friend’s 40th birthday. It consists of a 10″ round Madeira cake filled with lemon curd and covered in fondant, with an edible pink ribbon around it.

On top is the Barbie part of the cake, also Madeira and lemon curd filled made using a Wilton Barbie cake mold. The Barbie is decorated with a white fondant which I draped over for the skirt – it then creates it’s own pleats if you do it this way and looks more ‘flowing’. I then sprayed it with pink lustre edible coloring, and decorated with edible pearls and ribbon.

I inserted the whole Barbie in the cake (wrapping her legs in cling film first), and used a pale pink fondant for the bodice. I also made mini Madeira cakes and covered in fondant and decorations to go around the bottom of the main cake.

Everyone loved the cake and I got good feedback on how yummy it was too!
