This Dora cake was made using the Wilton Dora cake pan. I also made a second cake using a half sheet so I could stack the cake so it would serve more if needed. This was a donated birthday cake for a 4 four year old who loves Dora.
I frosted it using the traditional half shortening half butter recipe found on many websites and cookbooks for decorating. Having made the cake before I knew I wanted to distinguish her skin and hair with the icing and use stars only for her clothing. The hair was piped on using Wilton’s ‘hair/grass’ tip and the skin was piped on using the ‘ribbon’ tip and then smoothed out. I was pleased with the results.
