My daughter turned 11 and wanted a beach birthday cake to go with her birthday party on 7 Mile beach in Grand Cayman where we live.
We went to the candy store and found some really cool chocolate rocks and I built the cake from that. I wanted some palm trees but because the beach is so hot I wasn’t sure how to make them so they wouldn’t melt then I found the answer right in my fish bowl.
I got the palm tree ornament out of the fish bowl and washed it and let it sit in the sun for a few days. It was perfect because it did not weigh a lot and the proportions were great. I used crushed vanilla wafers for the sand and it looked just like the sand at the beach.
Everybody loved it.
