I made this 70’s Disco Cake for a friend of mine who was turning 40. When her sister asked me for some ideas, I ended up going through some clip art pictures for any ideas for either disco or the 1970’s. So I came up with this idea, a Saturday night fever/disco theme. It ended up working well. I wanted there to be some sparkle so I used dragges for the disco ball and just wrote the year she was born in around the outside. I wanted to keep the colours simple so I stuck with blues and white primarily.
I made two 18″ round cakes, filled inbetween the layer with her favourite chocolate mousse and frosted the cakes with a simple butter cream icing. I printed off a black and white picture of the the dancers and stencilled it on to the cake. I used a star tip for decorating the rest of the cake and free handed the disco ball.
It turned out really well and everyoned liked it.
Love this cake, thinking of trying it!
Karen your cake is very beautiful the whole Saturday Night Fever Theme. I like it. I will try the design the next time I have a cake to ice.
