We have a pet alligator named Archie that my son just loves. So for his 3rd Birthday I thought a alligator cake would be a lot of fun for him. I was right, he loved it and he called it his Archie cake, and he’s still talking about it.
I made 2 10×13 cakes and with a template cut them into the shape of the body. The main body was cut from the first cake and the head and tail were cut from the second one. I froze the cakes before cutting them out, it makes it a lot easier. I used a mini cupcake cut in half for the eyes and 2 mini bundt pans cut in quarters for the legs.
I refroze it before icing it. I put a thin layer of icing over all the raw edges. I covered it with stars for a textured look. I just built the nose up with a little extra icing. I formed claws out of tootsie rolls and made the teeth out of fondant and used lime candies on the back.
This was my first attempt at making a specially decorated cake. I had a lot of fun making it, and every one loved it.
The cake is BEAUTIFUL and looks SO professional!! Kudos!!!
