This Alligator cupcake cake was so much fun! Giving credit where credit is due, this idea came from a book titled “Hello, Cupcake” (I got mine at a local craft store).
Using one cake mix, bake 24 regular cupcakes. Ice them with “gator-green” buttercream by piping on overlapping rows of “scales”. Arrange them in the order seen in the photo (I was 2 short, so my tail wasn’t as long as the original design). Add Oreo crisps (from the 100 calorie packs) for the raised scales.
Use candy bananas for the claws, and large marshmallows cut into triangles for the teeth. “Glue” two additional large marshmallows end to end to form the eyes. Cover them with green icing, and place on top of the gators “head”. Use black icing or a small chocolate candy (such as a Jr. Mint) for the eyeballs.
Big WOW factor, simple project!
I haven’t made one of these cupcake designs yet…this one looks really cute! My kids school mascot is an alligator…I’ll have to use this one! Very good job!
Awesome Cake. I’m going to try this for my son’s birthday coming up. Hope it looks as great as yours!
my sister gave me the url to this cake and asked me to try and make this for her son’s 5th birthday, so I did my best and this is how mine turned out…
