My nephew wanted an Angry Birds cake for his 5th birthday. I had seen a picture on the Internet and thought “no way”. It turns out this was time-consuming (because of the cupcakes) but really fairly easy.
I baked the cake in the round ball pan, put the sides together with icing and sliced off a small portion on the bottom to allow the cake to stand. Then piped the white feathers under the nose with white icing; used a #18 star tip and covered the rest of the bird with red, building up the top “feathers” with icing. I piped the eyes and trimmed them in black, then piped beak. I used black fondant for the tail feathers and eyebrows.
For the feathers on the cupcakes, I used a #5 tip, since a smaller tip makes the feathers too neat and not as random. I then piped the faces on the cupcake birds.
The kids at the party loved it – so did the adults.
this is lovely n looks yum so think i will have a go at this 1 for my nephew Ethans 10th b/day thanku x
Hi there. Love the cupcakes, I was just wondering what you used for the beaks?
