Coolest Animated Ski Slope Birthday Cake

I made this Animated Ski Slope Birthday Cake for my little sister who loves to snow board! I got the brilliant idea to have moving parts on the cake, of course that took a lot more work than I expected. If you want to do this, I recommend hacking a kids Kenx set and using the motor and pully, but build your own track. For more info and a video of the moving parts visit my blog.

I made this cake for my little sister’s 18th Birthday. She lives for winter and snowboarding. So my idea was to make for her a small ski slope with a little people skiing down. Then inspiration struck and I thought to myself that it’s be cool if one of the figures actually snowboarded down the cake!

We modified a little kids Knex set. If you’ve ever played with those things, they are not suppose to be modified…

Once we decided that the figure would actually move, I knew the cake couldn’t be small. So I set out to bake a small mountain. I learned a lot by making this cake.
