This apple cake was made for a teacher’s birthday.
The cake itself is one 9″ round cake topped with a medium sized Pyrex bowl of cake. I stacked the two together and trimmed down the edges to form the shape.
I then took the shavings and laid them on top of the apple to create the ridges at the top. I covered the cake with rolled fondant and smoothed it out to emphasize the ridges. I then hand painted the cake using Wilton red coloring and corn syrup to get the super shiny outside look.
I used a bamboo skewer for the stem and pipe cleaners for the leaf. The worm on the side is also made from green pipe cleaners.
sort of cool..i guess…
What a fabulous idea!!!!!!
was thinking of making this myself then wonderered if anyone else has done it, then i came across yours and what an amazing effort!!!!
it’s brilliant!! :)))
