Kindergarten hosts an Applebration each September to celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday. Also is a great back to school function. All food must either be apple-themed so I came up with this cupcake idea.
Great for all back to school events or school bake sales. And this one is easy enough that your grade school child can actually do it!

Cupcakes
Frosting
Pretzel Rods
Gummiworms
I used plain vanilla cake mix to make the cupcakes. I then used store bought frosting tinted red to frost all the tops. I broke off the ends of pretzel rods and inserted in the middle of each cupcake. I then added a frosting leaf. I took a round handled spoon to push a hole into the cupcake near the edge. I inserted the worm into each hole so it appears to actually be crawling out of the apple.
