I made this army tank cake for my son’s 8th birthday since he was really into Army men at the time. I used a 13 x 9 pan for the base and a 8 x 8 pan for the top piece. I over filled the 8 x 8 pan with cake mix for the dome shape.
I used Oreo cookies cut in half as wheels and crushed vanilla wafers for the sand.I put the vanilla wafers in a plastic ziploc bag and banged them with my hand to crush them. TIP I iced the cake display under the sand with white icing to keep the “sand” from falling off as I transported the cake. I put the army men I purchased at the local dollar tree and just used basic green icing for the decoration.
The kids really loved it and the military adults at the party were just as entertained as the kids were. We had a blast and it was the talk of the party.
