Cool Homemade Army Tank Cake for Nephew’s 9th Birthday

I made this army tank cake for my nephew’s 9th birthday party. I used a regular 9 x 13 cake pan for the bottom and a loaf pan for the top and just cut the front of the loaf pan at an angle.

I mixed a jar of white and a jar of chocolate icing to get the tan coloring and then gave it a few sprays of green food coloring to get the camo effect.

The wheels were made of Oreo cookies and the track were made out of Hershey bar squares. I printed off an army logo and just stuck it to the icing on the front of the tank and used a couple of army toys to decorate.

I covered an Oreo cookie with icing for the lid to the tank and sprinkled Graham Cracker crumbs on the cake plate to look like desert sand.

My nephew loved it!

  1. This may not be covered in fondant and use bakers powder, but it seems easy enough to pull together and I bet the chocolate squares were devoured quickly. I will probably take that idea and mix some others to build my son’s cake. Thanks for the ideas.
