This baby belly cake was requested for a baby boy baby shower. It was made to feed 25 people. I made it from 3 10″ round cakes for the belly and 4 6″ round cakes for the chest area. I had to trim these down because they were not proportional to the belly at first.
The cake is filled with raspberry cream between each layer. White fondant with baby blue fondant for the bow. I also used orange and ivory to achieve the skin color. For the hem area I folded the fondant and cut a pattern free hand to give it the shape it has.
This cake turned out really nice….my four year old is sitting on my lap and said “that cake is pretty mama”.
Good job!
This is fantastic – what a great idea for a baby shower. I love it!! Well done.

i LOVE THE LOOK OF THIS CAKE,
SAME CAKE COULD BE MADE FROM A SOCCER BALL CAKE AND TWO DOLL VARDEN CAKES CAN’T YOU
Hi There
I’ve never made a cake like this before but it’s my best friends baby shower so I’m going to attempt it, I have managed to find the Wilton soccer ball cake tin which is 8.75″ x 8.75″ x 3.75″, is this the right tine to use? Also what should I use for the boobs? ALSO I have never used fondant icing before, do you just add colour an roll it out and cut it to shape and simply place over the cake?
Please help! Thank You
Sherie :)
I use 3 sizes for the belly, 12″, 10″ and 8″, stack then shave down the edges to make a circle, then frost. For the boobs, 4 6″ cakes. Stack 2 for each and shave edges for round shape. Frost those then place above belly area. I roll one sheep of fondant to cover the entire belly leaving enough at the bottom to cut out a skirt (using a pizza cutter). Add a bow and some color to the top or the shirt.
i love your cakes ill be calling u soon i hope u do a great job on this one i know where u live
