This Baby Belly Cake was my first attempt at a belly cake and my first experience with marshmallow fondant. I used stainless steel mixing bowls to bake the cake. I baked it at 325 for about 30 minutes for the small bowls and 1 hour for the large bowl. I added tin foil to the edges of the large bowl to keep the sides from getting too brown.
After cooling the cake and arranging it on the cake board I iced it with homemade buttercream icing. I then rolled out my marshmallow fondant, loosely wrapped it around my rolling pin than unrolled it onto the cake. I smoothed it out then added cut out coloured fondant circles and a waist strap. I finished it with cutout fondant flowers and hearts for straps and a pink daisy from the dollar store for a pop of colour and fun.
I’m happy with how it turned out and home the ladies at the baby shower like it.
