This Baby Boy ‘Converse’ Shower cake was made for a new mom in our church to celebrate the arrival of her first little boy. The bottom is two 10 inch round French vanilla cakes that have a vanilla butter cream filling. The top tier is two 8 inch chocolate rounds with vanilla butter cream filling. Both tiers are cover with homemade baby blue marshmallow fondant. The brown portions of the decorations are made from modeling chocolate. The giraffe, shoes and other decorations are made from fondant. The letter ‘L’ which stands for Lucas, was also made of the modeling chocolate.
This cake was a lot if fun to make. It was time consuming with all the different colored ‘bubbles’ but well worth it. The baby ‘Converse’ shoe wasn’t as challenging as I thought it would be considering it was my first time making them and they got a GREAT reaction. When the father of the baby saw the pictures of the shoes he asked if he could get them in a size 12.
It was a really fun cake all round and because it was as ‘busy’ as a little boy can get, everyone went back again and again to check it out.
