Crybaby Cake is quite easy to make. This is my first attempt using fondant, I am really pleased with how it turned out.
To make the Baby Shower Cake Design: 16in round cake tin, Rose Icing colour, Copper colouring for the skin colour,(I used peach couldn’t find copper) Black colouring, 2-3pks White Rolled Fondant or White Royal Icing (cheaper) and buttercream Icing. Spread thin layer buttercream icing onto cake and apply fondant on top or you can use apricot jam. Tint fondant Copper (skintone) colour and cover cake.
Using pattern for mouth, tint fondant black roll out and cut shape attach to face using water to damp the area so it will stick. Roll four small strips for eyes again position on cake. With skintone fondant cut ears and roll edges, roll a small oval for nose. Using Rose colour roll two circles for cheeks. Attach facial features. With remaining fondant roll a long log shape to be placed on side of head from ear to ear for bonnet.
Using Buttercream icing pipe ruffle on fondant log and pipe a tie under chin. I also piped some hair on head or just a few curls and added two teeth made from rolled white fondant and the tongue from white fondant as well.
Simple and easy and loads of fun.
