Rather than sticking to the traditional pink for a baby girl or blue for a baby boy cake, I decided to combine all the baby typical colours together to create this Homemade Baby’s Christening Cake.
I bought my teddy bear cutters very recently and just couldn’t wait to use them, and when asked to design a Christening cake I just knew these teddy bears would look great on the cake!
The bears were made from fondant icing which I coloured brown, and the bows on bears were hand piped. Using food colour pens, I carefully marked out the teddy bears eyes and nose.
The babys’ bib was made by using a circular cookie cutter and just cutting out an oval shape at the top and reshaped it to look like a bib. I then hand piped the edges and the baby’s name with royal icing (1 egg white and confectionery sugar & colour) in pink for contrast.
For the finishing touches, I made a large yellow fondant bow which cascades down the sides of this 2 tiered cake.
