I was asked to make a Baptism cake for my god-daughter’s baptism. There was another baby being baptized that day so that is why there are two names on the cake, one on each side.
I started by making a full sheet cake. I crumb coated it then covered it in butter cream icing. For the cross, I used a cross cake pan. I traced a cake board with the cake pan and after baking it and cooled, I lined up the cake pan to the board and took it out of the pan. I inserted dowel rods right underneath where I was placing the board with cross cake.
After placing the cake on top of dowel rods, I started with outlining the cross with icing I tinted pink. I then did alternating white and pink borders. The bottom part of the cross cake I iced pink and the top part I outlined in white and iced the inside white. I wrote the names and God bless in script letters with pink icing. The flowers I made ahead of time. They are roses made with royal icing and the leaves I used butter cream icing with the leaf tip.
The cake was enjoyed by all!
