This is my very first Barbie doll cake that was made for my best friend’s 23rd birthday. Overall I’m pretty happy with the way she turned out. The cake inside is a butter cake iced with buttercream and covered with fondant.
The details on her skirts were made using an embosser. You know those little roller cutters than can also imprint your fondant. I absolutely love it. it just gives your fondant designs an extra touch of detail. I never make a bow with out it. And I love making bows.
First I did the bottom ruffles of the skirt by using my ribbon cutter and then I used a ball tool to soften the edges. I then rolled out the white fondant for the front of her dress. I placed 3 dowel rods underneath and let it sit for about 30 mins so the pleats would set. I then laid the pink fondant making sure it draped really nicely like a gown. She also had a train.
wow! this is absolutely amazing! thank you for sharing!!
