This Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea was made for my niece who is turning 8. She wanted a Barbie cake and I searched this site to find one. I found about four pictures that I truly liked and incorporated parts of all of them into this one. I used my nieces’ favorite colors.
I used ready made frosting for the entire cake. The bottom of the cake is made in a 13×9″ tin and the doll is made with the Wilton Classic Wonder Mold. The bottom part is a two layer strawberry cake with strawberry frosting. The doll is a yellow cake. The very bottom is covered with piped stars and candy pearls put in the middle of each star. The white flowers come from a box of candy flowers and the green stems were drawn onto the cake.
The doll dress is all piped with stars and green and the waist and outline are pink. I found a bottle of candy hearts and picked out the pink and white ones and placed on the dress. The doll is holding a mini cupcake with 9 candles in which one is for good luck. It took about 3 hours to decorate the entire cake.
Everyone loved the cake at the party and so I decided that I should post the cake at the site that inspired the design.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAKE. I LOVE IT. WHAT A LABOR OF LOVE IT IS FOR AN AUNT TO MAKE SUCH A LOVELY CAKE. BRAVO.
Wendi – that is an amazing cake – great job!
That has to be the best doll cake I have ever seen, very unique. Your Niece is a very lucky girl! Do you sell these?
